World Recycling Day 2024

World Recycling Day

On March 18th, we celebrate World Recycling Day, which was established to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of recycling and the mindful use of resources. It promotes practices that reduce energy consumption, improve the quality of the water and air we breathe, and combat climate change.

Every year on March 18th, World Recycling Day is celebrated, established in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation to remind governments and institutions of the urgency for a common and joint approach, and on the other hand to raise awareness among individual citizens about the importance of their contribution. Because even small daily actions make a difference, starting from proper waste sorting.

In the Foundation's manifesto, it is highlighted that the Earth's most important natural resources are considered to be six, billions of tons of which are produced every year and at some point, in the not too distant future, will run out.

To counteract this trend, it is necessary to consider the SEVENTH RESOURCE. Recycling is a fundamental part of the circular economy and contributes to protecting our natural resources. Every year, the 'Seventh Resource' (recyclable materials) saves over 700 million tons of CO2 emissions, and it is expected that this figure will increase to 1 billion tons by 2030.

#RecyclingHeroes

The theme of World Recycling Day is #RecyclingHeroes: it acknowledges the individuals, places, and activities that demonstrate how the Seventh Resource contributes to a greener future for all. In 2024, the Global Recycling Foundation will showcase these heroes - big and small - as well as the cities, youth, and businesses that support innovative recycling practices and habits worldwide.

To help nominate unsung #RecyclingHeroes and ordinary people, the Global Recycling Foundation suggests examples using the following categories: world leaders, activists, emerging youth, countries, cities, and businesses.

Our technology cascades to millions of users, and our goal goes beyond being sustainable; it extends to guiding our customers on their sustainability journey, helping them achieve their ESG objectives. We achieve this goal through technology that enables greater awareness of the daily use of primary resources, promoting waste reduction.

We are proud to say that our solutions deliver tangible and measurable results, with impacts on a large scale and globally. Consider, for example, tools to communicate to citizens actions for proper waste sorting or tools for proper management of different materials in recycling processes at plants.
